This performance is an invitation to witness a living, collective force. Mass Movement, a new work by Body Home Fat Dance, offers an embodied exploration of what becomes possible when fat bodies are centered, trusted, and fully lived in. Where softness, weight, shape, and texture become sources of innovation. Movement builds through momentum and leveraging of mass. The choreography reveals a physical language shaped by squish, reverberation, impact, and tenderness.
Mass Movement is also a testament to the power of community, creativity and care. Created within a space of safety and connection, the work reflects the ways marginalized bodies, especially those at the intersections of fat and queer identity, forge new paths together. Without inherited templates, we build our own structures of meaning, drawing from shared experience, resilience, and imagination. Like its geological namesake, Mass Movement holds both quiet accumulation and sudden shift: a gathering of bodies and energies that, over time, becomes undeniable.
Friday 7:30pm show MASKS ARE REQUIRED by audience members
A note on pricing: Sliding scale $15-35. We are offering tickets in a 3 tier format to improve accessibility to our performances. Arts often depend on grant funding as ticket prices do not cover the full cost of production. Please choose the payment level that works for you, that allows you access to the performance, and that supports the ongoing creation of art if possible. You can refer to the work by Alexis Cunningfolk if you would like to more deeply contemplate where you fit into this scale: wortsandcunning.com/blog/sliding-scale
